B2B email is losing its grip as a signal channel, and demand-gen vendors are racing to find what replaces it. DemandView, an AI-enriched content syndication and lead generation platform, has launched EngageSMS, an automated text-message nurture engine for opted-in B2B buyers, bundled free with every content syndication program in 2026.

What happened

EngageSMS sends sequenced, content-driven texts timed to buyer behavior rather than one-off blasts, keeping leads warm without an email send. Every click and engagement event is tracked and reported to customers, turning SMS activity into an intent signal that can feed lead scoring, sales alerts, and pipeline workflows. “AI email, spam cannons, have killed the ability to engage an audience via email. Marketers need a new medium, and B2B is ready for SMS,” said Chris Rack, DemandView co-founder. One early customer already pipes that SMS data into its own first-party intent-scoring engine.

Why it matters for the sales leader

RevOps teams have spent two years bolting AI writers onto outbound email, and this launch admits the arms race poisoned the channel it was meant to scale: engagement is down, and lead-scoring models that lean on email activity are starved of signal. If SMS becomes a legitimate pipeline input, leaders must decide whether their stack can ingest it as a scored, compliant signal, not a novelty metric, given a thinner audit trail than email.

The original insight

The durable story is not SMS itself but where the intent signal originates. As inbox engagement degrades, vendors sitting closest to the buyer’s device gain leverage over what counts as a qualified signal, pulling power toward point solutions and away from legacy platforms whose moat was email deliverability. It also raises a compliance question RevOps cannot outsource: opt-in SMS to business contacts carries a different regulatory profile than email, and any pipeline data it produces needs the same consent rigor already demanded of the CRM.
