B2B pipeline attribution is breaking down as the buyer journey stretches, and new benchmark data shows why revenue operations teams keep undercounting the channels that actually build pipeline.

Dreamdata, a B2B attribution and activation platform, released its LinkedIn Ads Benchmarks Report 2026, built from more than 66 million sessions across 3.5 million customer journeys. LinkedIn is the only major ad platform delivering a positive return on ad spend for B2B marketers, at 121%, ahead of Google Search at 67% and Meta at 51%, and now captures 41% of B2B paid social budgets.

The more consequential number for RevOps is the buyer journey itself. The average B2B customer journey has stretched from 211 days to 272 days, spanning 88 touchpoints and 10 buying-committee stakeholders, up from 6.8. Buyers spend roughly the first seven months researching before ever entering a sales pipeline. “B2B deals are essentially won before sales get involved in the process,” said Steffen Hedebrandt, co-founder and CMO of Dreamdata. “Proving marketing’s impact is difficult, since CRMs aren’t built to track multiple anonymous touchpoints or connect early engagement to a deal that closes months later.”

The real story is not that LinkedIn got better, it is that most CRM systems still attribute a deal to whatever touchpoint happened last, a model built for a buying journey that no longer exists. A pipeline measuring a 30-day attribution window against a nine-month buying process is capturing a fragment of marketing’s revenue contribution, not all of it.

For revenue operations leaders, the fix is the measurement layer, not the ad budget: extending attribution windows, connecting anonymous early-funnel engagement to closed-won data, and tracking the buying committee rather than a single contact.
