Sales compensation software is being reclassified. What used to be a back-office spreadsheet replacement is now evaluated by analysts as an “Agentic Revenue Execution” category, and that reframing just picked up a fresh data point: Everstage has been named a Challenger in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Sales Performance Management, published July 6, 2026.
Everstage, founded in 2020, says its year-over-year growth now exceeds 2x, and that most of its new enterprise deployments are replacing legacy or in-house compensation systems rather than competing incumbents head to head. Customers include Wiley, Trimble, Notion, Diligent, Thoughtworks, Postman, and Gray Media. “We took on incumbents with decades of head start, and in our opinion this recognition in this Magic Quadrant in just a few years reflects the speed and focus our customers feel every day,” said CEO and co-founder Siva Rajamani, who described the roadmap as a unified platform bringing incentives, planning, and CPQ together for RevOps, finance, and sales leaders.
Everstage is not the only vendor being validated this cycle. Varicent was named a Leader in the same 2026 Magic Quadrant for the eighth consecutive time, and CaptivateIQ also landed in the Leaders quadrant, evidence the whole SPM field, not just one challenger, is being pulled toward the same agentic redefinition. Analyst firm Mordor Intelligence pegs the broader SPM market at $3.46 billion in 2026, growing toward $7.61 billion by 2031, a run partly fueled by the sunset of legacy platforms like SAP CallidusCloud.
The original insight here is less about Everstage’s ranking and more about what a legacy category looks like right before it gets rebuilt: incumbent displacement running ahead of analyst recognition. For RevOps and finance leaders still running commission logic on spreadsheets, the switching wave already has enough scale to reshape shortlists this budget cycle.
