Julia Molano is Director of Product Management at Liferay. SalesTech Edition sent her five questions about Liferay Digital Sales Room, which reached general availability on 9 September, and she answered them in writing.
What does a company not on Liferay’s DXP have to buy or migrate to use Digital Sales Room?
Liferay Digital Sales Room requires a Liferay DXP subscription in order to operate. A 60-day free trial with full access is available.
Which feature was cut or delayed to hit general availability on 9 September, and why?
No feature was cut or delayed. Certain features are on the roadmap for early 2027, including mutual action plans, in-room commerce, and an AI-assisted seller. These additions come directly from prospect and customer feedback. An enterprise tier is also planned
for general availability in early 2027.
Where does Liferay’s tracking fall short of standalone sales room vendors?
We don’t believe Liferay Digital Sales Room’s tracking falls short of standalone sales room vendors’ offerings. In fact, a digital sales room becomes more valuable when combined with a wider suite of functionality, including commerce and personalization features.
How did early customers use their rooms before launch, and what changed?
Liferay Digital Sales Room only entered General Availability on September 9, 2026. It is too early to establish clear trends regarding customer usage over time.
What would make a sales leader with a standalone tool and a CRM decide not to switch?
A sales leader with a standalone tool and CRM may decide not to make a switch if their digital experience technology stack includes a large element of custom, homegrown software. However, it is important to understand the tradeoff. A custom, homegrown software
stack may provide short-term stability, but it is likely to result in substantial technical debt and maintenance costs over the long term.
