Microsoft began rolling out its autonomous Sales Qualification Agent through the Dynamics 365 2025 release wave 2 in October 2025, with general availability through the company’s Frontier Program in December 2025. The agent autonomously researches leads, identifies genuine purchase intent, and advances qualified prospects through the pipeline without requiring human initiation of each step.
The Sales Qualification Agent connects to sales data across Dynamics 365 and Salesforce, accessing CRM records, communication history, and external signals to evaluate lead quality. It personalizes outreach, engages with prospects through email and other channels, and progresses leads closer to full qualification before surfacing them for human review. The agent operates within Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook and Teams, enabling sellers to interact with qualified leads within their existing workflow.
Separately, the Sales Development Agent (also available through the Frontier Program) helps scale team capacity by autonomously building pipeline, nurturing leads, and personalizing outbound sequences. Both agents function within the broader Copilot framework for Dynamics 365 Sales, which provides AI-powered deal summaries, meeting preparation, account research, and next-best-action recommendations.
The 2025 wave 2 release also introduced Research Agents in Dynamics 365 that orchestrate specialized sub-agents to gather, analyze, and transform data into context-aware research results delivered as rich visualizations and textual narratives. Charles Lamanna, President of Business and Industry Copilot, positioned the updates as part of Microsoft’s broader “Frontier Firm” vision where agents work autonomously across business applications.
