Field sales has lagged behind inside sales in one specific way: reps working territories rarely get a system telling them which door to knock on next. That gap is starting to close. SPOTIO, a field sales execution platform, has launched NBA (Next Best Action), an AI engine that assigns every account and record a predictive “Value Score” and then recommends a specific next move: visit, call, text, or email.

The mechanism matters more than the label. NBA scores accounts on likelihood of success, urgency, importance, and churn risk, then surfaces that guidance directly inside the screens reps already use: home screen, list views, map views, routing, and calendar. Scott Shapiro, SPOTIO’s president, called it “the first time field sales has had anything like it,” while CTO Brian Reinhart tied the investment to customer pressure rather than a feature race: “We’re investing aggressively in AI because our customers’ revenue goals demand it.”

The original insight here is about where prescriptive AI is landing next. Inside sales and conversation intelligence platforms got predictive scoring and next-step guidance years ago; field sales, constrained by drive time and door-to-door territory logic, was the harder problem to model. NBA’s hybrid refresh, updating through the day with a nightly re-prioritization pass, suggests the industry has found a workable middle ground between real-time recommendations and the practical limits of a rep’s actual route. That is consistent with the broader move enablement platforms are making toward prescriptive, not just descriptive, AI, and it puts pressure on any territory-management tool still shipping static routing without predictive prioritization underneath it.
