Salesforce plans to invest $1 billion in Spain over the next five years, with a new Madrid headquarters that will house an AI Implementation Team of forward deployed engineers, the company said on October 19.

What happened

Salesforce named Madrid its EMEA South hub. The new five-floor office on Paseo de la Castellana includes space for customer collaboration and hands-on training in agentic AI. The AI Implementation Team has two jobs. Forward Deployed Engineers will work directly with Spanish customers to design and deploy agentic use cases, and a regional center will recruit and train graduates.

Graduates from across EMEA South, a region Salesforce describes as spanning more than 90 countries and three continents, will complete a year of training in Spain and then deploy back to their home countries. Salesforce says it has been in Spain since 2003 and has created more than 600 direct jobs. Customers it names include Repsol, CaixaBank and Telefónica, and Comunidad de Madrid uses Agentforce in its User Support Center.

Miguel Milano, President and Chief Operating Officer of Salesforce, said: “Salesforce is delighted to expand our presence in Spain with this landmark investment and look forward to working hand-in-hand with our customers and partners to deploy transformative AI technologies.”

Why it matters

The release describes the money going to offices, engineers and graduate training. SalesTech reported that each of Salesforce’s five acquisitions adds a layer around its AI agents and that five task-specific models now sit around its agent reasoning. The Madrid team adds people who deploy those layers.

What to watch

In our reading, buyers should treat implementation capacity as part of the product. When a vendor sells agents, ask how many people in your region can deploy them and whether that team comes with the license or is billed as services.
