Revenue teams have spent the past year getting used to AI agents reading their CRM to sell faster. The next wave of agents reading that same data will not be sales agents at all, and RevOps just inherited a permissions problem it did not design for.

Pervaziv AI said on July 24 that its Cortex platform now connects to Salesforce CRM, its tenth enterprise system alongside GitHub, Atlassian, Slack, Azure DevOps, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and the three major clouds. The connection pulls in accounts, contacts, opportunities, cases, and custom objects, giving Cortex’s AI agents customer and revenue context inside the same environment engineering teams use to build, secure, and deploy software. Founder and CEO Anoop Jaishankar framed it as extending “an Enterprise AI Control Layer that helps organizations reason and act across systems without losing permission boundaries, governance, traceability, or human intent.”

Why it matters for the revenue leader

CRM access controls assume the people reading opportunity records and account notes are sales reps, managers, or customer success staff, where the worst case is an over-permissioned human. That assumption breaks once agents built for engineering and IT start querying the same objects around the clock for reasons that have nothing to do with selling, like whether a customer’s support history should slow a code deploy. Cortex says it respects Salesforce’s existing permission model rather than replacing it, but RevOps teams rarely audit sharing rules and field-level security with a machine reader in mind. A role built to hide compensation fields from a junior rep was not tested against an agent querying thousands of records a minute.

The move to treat revenue data as shared infrastructure for AI agents is accelerating, and each new connector adds a consumer RevOps did not provision. Before approving the next integration, revenue operations leaders should ask which fields an outside agent can see under existing sharing rules, not just whether it supports single sign-on.
