CrankWheel said on October 29 that it added a digital CMS consent form to its screen-sharing sessions, so insurance agents can capture consent while they are already on a call with a client.
What happened
In its PR Newswire release, the Reykjavik company says the form is built into the existing workflow, with no extra software for the agent. It supports the 2025 ACA consent and attestation forms, the 2026 CMS consent and eligibility forms and the Medicare Scope of Appointment. CrankWheel’s web-audio meetings record both sides of a sales conversation, and automatic recording is available at no added cost on request. The company is also looking for VoIP providers so agents can pair phone recordings with screen shares, with the stated goal of storing combined recordings for 10 years or more at no added cost to paid users.
Why it matters
CrankWheel says CMS has begun urging agents to record ACA-related sales calls. By its guidance, agents handling more than 100 policies per carrier group should start recording by November 1, 2026, and others by March 1, 2027. The release says this is not yet a formal regulation. “Insurance agents are being asked to do more and more to stay compliant with CMS, often on very short timelines,” said Anton Vakulenko, Product Manager at CrankWheel. CrankWheel’s pitch is that consent capture and recording belong in the same tool as the screen share, which folds call recording into one buying decision for agencies. Compare it with Gong’s Gartner placement and Microsoft’s contact center preview.
One original insight
In our reading, the commitment to watch is retention. CrankWheel’s FAQ says consent records and eligibility documentation must be kept for at least 10 years, which makes storage, search and deletion rules a line item for any agency that records every call.
