Five9 said on November 5 that it signed a definitive agreement to acquire Level AI, a contact center AI company, in a deal that values Level AI at about $325 million, paid in cash.
What happened
Five9 announced the deal on the day it reported third quarter 2026 results. Its board approved the agreement unanimously, and the company expects the transaction to close in 2026, subject to closing conditions. The cash comes from Five9’s balance sheet.
Level AI sells agent assist, quality management, coaching and AI agents on one conversation intelligence layer. Five9 lists Gusto, Chime, Empyrean and VistaPrint as customers and says the platform handles more than one billion customer interactions a year. The two companies have worked together since 2022, with Level AI sold through the Five9 CX Marketplace.
Why it matters
Five9 plans to sell Level AI’s applications two ways. Enterprises that have not moved their on-premises contact centers to the cloud, and those on other cloud platforms, can buy them as standalone products without buying the Five9 contact center platform. The applications will also sit in the AI application layer of Five9’s Genius CX Platform.
Five9 CEO Amit Mathradas said, “Level AI will advance this vision by expanding our AI capabilities, adding experienced AI-native builders to our team, and delivering additional AI solutions for research, analysis, and planning so human agents can focus on high-value and complex customer interactions.”
What to watch
Salesforce agreed to acquire Cresta two days earlier, and Microsoft put its Contact Center Intelligence into public preview in October. In our reading, a team that runs conversation intelligence from a standalone vendor should ask that vendor, in writing, which telephony platforms and CRMs stay supported after an ownership change, and whether standalone pricing holds after the deal closes. Five9’s release makes the standalone commitment for Level AI, and it does not state a price or term for it.
